The National Catholic Education Commission is seeking a highly motivated and experienced policy analyst to join their team in the Sydney.

The National Catholic Education Commission (NCEC) aims to be a strong advocate for Catholic schools that is well regarded for its ability to clearly articulate the needs and values of Catholic education by collaborating effectively with all its stakeholders and demonstrating education policy leadership.

The role

The position of Policy Advisor undertakes policy work for the NCEC. The role undertakes research and analysis, drafts submissions, reports and correspondence regarding Australian government education policies and legislation in order to advise the NCEC on matters such as school funding and governance, educational performance and accountability.

You will monitor and advise on national education policies and legislation working with state Catholic Education Commissions and other stakeholders. As part of this work you will maintain relationships with relevant departmental officials and other relevant education stakeholders.

Selection Criteria

To be successful in this role you will have experience working in government, a policy think tank or a not for profit entity and have sound knowledge of government policy and legislative processes. As an experienced policy analyst you will be able demonstrate your research, qualitative analysis, policy advice and development skills. Your written and verbal skills will be highly developed and you will be a superior communicator with colleagues and stakeholders. An interest in education policy and affinity with the needs and special nature of Catholic schools is important. Relevant tertiary qualifications for example in law, public policy or political science are required.
